2007

  • Sold fleet management businesses to TeliMatrix Limited (which owns Matrix Vehicle Tracking) in return for 50% of the shares in TeliMatrix. Control Instruments will receive 320 million shares in TeliMatrix when it lists on the JSE on 12 November 2007 and will unbundle approximately 280 million shares to shareholders - shareholders will receive two TeliMatrix shares for each Control Instruments share they hold
  • Acquired distribution rights and fleet telematics, data management and commercial vehicle outfitting businesses (Datatrak) from SiemensVDO Trading. Based in United Kingdom and Europe (June)

  • Acquired Pi Technology, United Kingdom - specialises in design of electronic products for the automotive industry (December)
  • Acquired Gabriel South Africa and Gabriel trademark for designated territories in Africa (including South Africa). Gabriel manufactures, distributes and sells ride control products (shock absorbers, struts and gas springs) to the automotive aftermarket in southern Africa (September)
  • Acquired 51% of the shares in Tripmaster, USA - supplier of high-end onboard computers to the North American trucking market (March)
  • Acquired the businesses of Sagercy PE, Ariston and Specialised Plastics Engineering - manufacture of plastic products for the automotive battery industry and the automotive OEM industry. (March)

  • Acquired Dana South Africa (Pty) Limited - distributor of aftermarket components for the automotive and heavy-duty truck market in South Africa. (October)
  • European sales, engineering support and logistics operation (CI Europe) established, based in the United Kingdom (March)
